Frequently asked questions

Can I retake just one subject?

Yes. If you already hold the IB Diploma, you can retake a single subject to improve your score — you do not have to re-sit the entire diploma. Select Single-subject retake above. Core components (EE, TOK) are only required if you want to improve those grades.

Where can I sit the retake?

You can register as an "anticipated candidate" at any authorized IB World School that accepts external candidates — not only your original school. Many students sit retakes at British Council centers, international schools, or private IB tutoring centers. Contact the IB directly for a list of approved centers in your country.

What are the IB core-component fees?

Based on Mora Gymnasium's 2026 fee schedule, the IB charges approximately €70 for Extended Essay and €36 for TOK when resubmitting. Per-subject fees are about €92. Your school typically adds an administration fee on top.

What does "late registration" mean?

The IB publishes two deadlines per session: an on-time deadline and a late deadline. Late registration adds roughly 50% to the registration fee as a rule of thumb. Deadlines differ by session (May/November) and country — confirm yours with your IB coordinator.

How accurate is this calculator?

It's an estimate. IB fees change yearly, schools charge wildly different admin fees, and currency rates fluctuate. Numbers marked "Published fees" in the result card come directly from a cited source. Numbers marked "Estimated fees" are derived from the IBO EUR schedule plus typical school markups. Use the output as your starting point for a conversation with your IB coordinator.
